Compulsion: A Myth of Omega Standalone Page 6
The Alpha was quiet for a long moment. “Why was the general interested in her?”
“He hadn’t known of the defect before. He told me he planned to remove the girl from her home.”
“Why?”
Nyan tried to lift her shoulders, but the restraint on both arms squeezed. “He didn’t want the girl among other citizens on the islands.”
“Was the defect contagious?”
“No.”
The Alpha was silent for a long moment, and Nyan could almost hear his next questions.
“This is why you killed him?” he asked, gyrating his hips slowly. “You were trying to protect the girl?”
Nyan didn’t answer. Surely he could reach whatever conclusion he wanted on his own.
But Roclan was not happy with that. “Answer me! Was it an accident, or did you kill him to protect the girl?”
“Both!” she yelled back at him, her anger finally rising again. “He had no right! The Islands of Ashens are governed by Ashens, not Dorei. It wasn’t his place to interfere with the girl’s life.”
“It wasn’t your place to interfere with the general’s,” he thundered. “What if he had a good reason for removing her?”
Nyan kept her mouth tightly shut, though anger thundered through her body. “You give him more benefit of the doubt than he deserves.”
“Why? Just because he was trying to protect citizens? He may have been misguided, but he was still—”
“You Lox are all the fucking same,” Nyan yelled, the rage whipping around her body, turning into an intense fury. “You protect each other even when there is no evidence to suggest it is deserved. You spent enough time focusing on my background, but have you even looked into the general’s? Do you know what kind of man he was and how he ran this territory? What kind of trade agreements he made and whether he upheld them? How he treated citizens and how they felt about him? Do you know any-fucking-thing about this man you are so ready to defend!”
The Alpha was silent, and that infuriated her more.
“You claim your Lox Principles are so fair, but you don’t care if they are fair to anyone else but yourselves.” She renewed her struggle against her constraints with new vigor. “No one was sent to look at this territory until the general’s death, and even then, you ignore the signs. You assume if someone is in an esteemed position, it must mean they are a good person and can never do any wrong—ignoring all the festering rot underneath.” The belt chafed, and the chain dug into her, but she didn’t care, her thrashing becoming wilder.
“Calm down, Nyan,” Roclan said sternly. “You will harm yourself.”
“So?” she screamed, finally infuriated. “I was supposed to die weeks ago! You kept me alive for this stupid investigation, just to prove your worth to your idiot emperor, and you haven’t even been thorough!” She thrashed and screamed, becoming more frustrated at her immobility. “We never needed to find out we were true mates who’d never be together… if you’d just stuck to the fucking protocol!” She burst into tears, the pressure of her anger too intense. “I fucking hate this! Why didn’t you just let me pay for the crime? I wanted the execution! You caused all this. I hate you all!”
She continued to yell and scream and fight against her bonds until she registered rough, wet strokes on her thighs. Breathing hard, she stilled.
Roclan’s tongue lapped at her gently, licking up the slick on her thighs. As usual, his tongue on her skin pleased her, and she couldn’t maintain the strength of her anger and despair. So she cried silently while he soothed her, licked and nibbled her inner thighs, making his way to her drenched pussy. Soon he was sucking on her folds and clit, a heavy rumbling groan on his exhales as he savored her, bringing her to the edge of another climax. But this time, he plunged inside her and thrust once, twice, and a blistering ecstasy gripped her that would not end, ravishing her body and her senses until she screamed for relief.
When she came to, she was curled up on her bedding. Although she’d been untied, her wrists were bound together and attached to the chain, like when she’d first been imprisoned. Roclan was gone, and her daily rations had been left by the door.
Her Alpha didn’t return until the next day.
When he entered, Nyan didn’t move from where she lay on the bedding but watched his feet as he locked the door behind him and stepped into the cell, coming to a halt only a foot from the door. He placed down her food and straightened.
All was still for a moment, and then she heard him undoing his pants.
She rolled over onto her back, disgusted and disappointed. Of course, that’s what he came for.
But instead of coming for her, he stood on the spot, his breathing becoming heavier by the moment.
When Nyan glanced at him, he was working his fist up and down his length, his eyes locked on her. She stared back at him. Was this some new way to engage with her? If so, what was the purpose? She’d told him what he wanted to know.
But as she watched, arousal curled around her body, twisting in her stomach. His eyes grew dark as he watched her, his body tense.
Nyan’s nipples hardened, and her slick gathered rapidly as the Alpha stroked himself faster, the scent of him penetrating the lingering gloom that had been left from his interrogation.
As he jerked his hips and let out a loud groan, his seed spurted from him, splashing on the floor of the cell and dripping from his tip. Nyan almost cried out in annoyance that he was wasting it, but she forced herself to shut up. His orgasms had nothing to do with her, and if he wanted to put himself on display, she would not be the one to say anything to him.
After he had squeezed out every drop, the Alpha continued to watch her as he tucked himself away, buckled his pants up, and left the cell.
Nyan was speechless—shock and outrage spiraling. Her entire body was crying out for his cock, his tongue, his huge frame to be pressed against hers, and not only had she been deprived, but he had left the potent scent of his seed lingering in the cell. He hadn’t even covered her with it!
She got up and paced, growling to herself in annoyance before realizing she was doing exactly what she said she wouldn’t. Gritting her teeth, she returned to her bedding, sat cross-legged, and took a few deep breaths. He was trying to torture her, just in a different way. She didn’t understand why, but it didn’t matter. He wouldn’t be able to escape organizing her execution—Lox Palace would demand it. She just had to wait. So she took another deep breath and began to hum.
The Alpha’s behavior remained the same for the next few days.
He arrived, stood near the door while he unbuckled his pants, stroked himself while he watched her until he ejaculated, and then left.
Nyan thought she could handle it, thought she could ignore him and pretend he wasn’t important, but the sudden absence of his touch coupled with seeing and scenting him each day was more than she could bear.
The desire for him that dominated her had no release. It didn’t matter how she touched herself, it didn’t matter what she did to try and ease the craving for him; nothing could match his touch.
On the fourth day, her need for him had built to such a crescendo she could think of nothing else. She got up and walked to the door, preparing for his arrival. She had no idea what she was going to do when he entered the room, she just knew she could no longer sit and watch.
When Roclan arrived, a pleased look entered in his eyes when he saw her standing in the center of the cell. He placed her food down and undid his pants.
Nyan watched him stroke himself and inched closer, breathing in the scent of him. He watched her with that look she loved, but said nothing.
Finally, when he climaxed this time, he caught his seed in his hand and stepped toward her.
Nyan froze in anticipation, her eyes locked onto his as he spread his fluid over his neck and chin, then he reached for her.
She melted as he lifted her into his arms, her legs wrapped around his torso as his arms squeezed her firmly around the waist. She pres
sed a kiss on his lips, sighing in relief at the feel of him, but he pushed her head down to his neck, where she eagerly licked and sucked the fluid he’d smeared there, moaning at the bitter taste of it on her tongue. Her desire for him roared through her, wild and boundless, and she rubbed herself on him, rotating her hips to find some way of releasing the need between her legs.
Roclan ripped away her panties, and when he reached her bedding, he sat down with her straddling him, his length pressing against her drenched opening.
Nyan rubbed her face in his seed on his neck, sucking every inch of skin she could reach. Finding the sweetest smelling spot on his neck, she sucked it into her mouth, eager for everything every taste, every scent she could get. And as he maneuvered her hips, lining himself up to her entrance, the desperation for more of him pushed her into an instinctual act.
She bit down on his neck, drawing his blood into her mouth once, twice, then a third and final time.
The Alpha bellowed out and slammed her hips down onto his length. As his blood streamed down her throat, she came immediately, overloaded by the sensory experience.
As he worked her on his cock, his blood coating her mouth, he grabbed the crown of her head, tilting it to one side, and bit into her neck.
Nyan was too overwhelmed by everything she was feeling to take note of the sharp sting at first, or the new pulsing awareness that burrowed inside her, spinning wild in her chest. But as her climax ebbed away, she immediately noticed the difference in her chest and the blood in her mouth. She slumped against him, trying to make sense of what was happening to her, but it was only when Roclan murmured, “Good girl, Nyan,” into her ear, that dread gripped her.
“No,” she whispered. “You made me do that.”
“You followed your instincts,” he said, not breaking the rhythm he set as he drove her down on his cock, his arm around her waist. “It is normal.”
“It is not normal,” she said sharply. “It’s supposed to be my choice!”
“If I weren’t your Alpha, you wouldn’t have been compelled to bite me, Nyan. You wouldn’t have so desperately wanted my seed in your mouth. I only presented you with an option. You made the choice.”
Nyan clenched her teeth, knowing he was right but hating that she had been manipulated. An overwhelming sense of satisfaction beamed through the new bond in her chest, and she gripped his shoulders as he yanked her down on him harder. “What is the point in us being soul-bonded now?” she panted. “What difference does it make? I am still a criminal.”
Roclan slowed to a stop, leaning her backward so he could look down on her. “It means we remain together, Nyan. Always.”
An uncomfortable prickle ran up Nyan’s arms as she gazed up at him. “What do you mean? How can we? I am scheduled for—”
“You cannot die without making me suffer. Soul-bonds cannot be broken. Ever.”
Her eyes widened as Roclan smiled. “So… you will die when I am executed?”
“No,” Roclan said firmly. “Because you won’t be executed.” He traced a finger along her chin. “I don’t believe you have a killer’s soul, Nyan. I know my Omega woman would not. I think you are lying and protecting someone, perhaps this girl you treated. Now we are soul-bonded, I will know for sure.”
Nyan gasped, horror bursting into her. “No! No, Roclan!” She fought to get off him, but he held her too tight. “How fucking dare you!” she screamed, clawing at him. “You tricked me! I will never forgive you for this! I won’t—”
Roclan grabbed her neck, forcing her body to go limp, before leaning her back and continuing to move her up and down on him. "You belong to me, and I belong to you, Nyan," Roclan murmured, as he moved within the depths of her. "That will never change, no matter what you say, no matter what you do.”
Nyan’s mouth tightened, tears filling her eyes as he lifted her tunic and latched his mouth onto a nipple, as though her feelings and reaction to what he did was nothing but a minor inconvenience to him getting a fuck.
She couldn’t stop the savage madness of pleasure that overwhelmed her as he took her or the way her body convulsed and keened under his touch. But she could control how she touched him, whether she kissed him, or even looked at him.
She had given this Alpha too much of herself because she was sure her death was imminent, but now it was time to be smarter. She had made a promise, one she couldn’t break. Roclan had forced himself on her in so many ways, and she had underestimated him.
So although she would never be able to stop him feeling her emotions through the bond, for the sake of her promise, she could try.
Even if it meant damage to them both.
Chapter Six
ROCLAN
Roclan stormed from Nyan’s cell, furious with both her and himself.
For the last three days, she lay on her bedding, refusing to move, talk, and eat, while a devoid mellow calm revolved in their bond that was alarming. Roclan allowed her a day to process the newly formed soul-bond between them and the fact that he had enticed her to do it, but her mood wasn’t improving, and that was unacceptable. Not only did he dislike seeing and feeling their bond in that state, but he needed her functional to get to the truth about her case.
It had been almost two months since he first arrived in Dorei, and in all that time, he hadn’t updated Commander Torin about his progress. The commander sent communication by messenger twice, once asking for an update on the case, and the other giving him a deadline to return to the palace. Although Roclan had known it wouldn’t have been possible for him to avoid the commander, he’d hoped to progress much further with Nyan by now.
Roclan had never known an Omega to be so difficult.
There were plenty of stories about Omegas denying their Alphas and needing to be persuaded to accept the truth of their nature and their mate’s nature, but his Omega knew. She never once denied her nature, and when she wasn’t fighting him about this case, she reveled in him the way he did her. He’d never known such satisfaction.
Which was why he couldn’t understand her preference to die when what they had between them was so primal and pure. She was the most enticing female he had ever come across. Not only was she incredibly beautiful, but her voice, and her reactions and expressions, kept him hard almost all the time he was in her presence, whether she was eating, sleeping, or arguing with him… It was as though she’d been created to keep his cock hard.
Before he'd met her, Roclan would have been willing to wait forever for his Omega. But, as soon as he touched and tasted Nyan, it became clear there was no way he would ever be able to continue unless she was with him. He didn't even know how his Alpha brothers managed to do any work at all. All he wanted to do was bury himself in her touch, her smiles, her beautiful orgasms, and never step outside again.
He wanted her out of that fucking cell. And she was fighting him every step of the way. Something was strange about that. Now that he knew she was an Omega, and could probably wield magic, it didn’t seem that odd she had the power to kill a general. But he knew she hadn’t done it.
When he hadn’t been with her, he’d been researching her background, speaking to citizens of Dorei, visiting her patients and suppliers, and building a picture of her from the eyes of others. They all said the same thing; she was the most spirited, lively, and kindest person they knew. The ones who were aware of her imprisonment were shocked by it, many of them unable to believe she’d committed such a crime and insistent she would be freed once the truth was discovered. As such, many of them offered him information and details about her life. She was a fascinating woman.
Nyan had arrived in Dorei two years prior and set about helping some of the most vulnerable people, especially those who had lost homes when the Lox came into power or people who didn’t have access to the care provided by Lox approved medics. She also traveled to Jynora and the Islands of Ashens to treat patients. He discovered that families were spread across the three territories, and much of the travel and trade between them was conne
cted.
As far as he was concerned, Nyan had managed to win over some of the most difficult people in the southwest. Some of them refused to speak to him, even when threatened with imprisonment, but when told it regarded her, they grudgingly gave him the information he was looking for. One thing stood out; Nyan was known for celebrating and preserving life. She held its value in high esteem, and any patient she could not save, the ones who were too sick to recover, she helped ease their pain and sang at their passing.
Since her outburst—when he tied her up—he had been wondering if maybe she had killed General Freydon in anger. Emotion was a powerful motivator; it caused some of the most unlikely murders. But it bothered him she would be so flippant about it—he expected her to be devastated by a killing, even if it were a Lox general. Of course his personal assumptions weren’t proof of anything, and it could be that he didn’t know her well enough, but he was unwilling to believe that Nyan would so easily murder—all the signs pointed to something being amiss, and he was not going to allow her to die for a crime she didn’t commit, no matter the reason.
The soul-bond should have been a way to get to the truth quickly and simply. And she was still fighting him on that.
“Your carriage is ready, General,” said his guard, falling in line with him in the corridor.
Roclan nodded and changed direction to head toward the base entrance. “I will leave immediately. The prisoner has her food for the day. She should be fine until I return.”
The guard hesitated. “I can monitor her for you, General, if you would like me to.”
“I do not want anyone entering her cell.”
“No,” the guard said hastily. “I mean, I can just make sure she has water and listen to see if she sings.”
Roclan slowed, peering at the man. When he’d spent days in Nyan’s cell, fucking her into oblivion during her Haze, this guard, the one who had shown him to his office, had been shocked by the state of him when he reappeared—naked and covered with dried slick and semen. Roclan explained nothing, merely asking him for access to the base’s kitchens and washrooms. From what he could tell, the guard hadn’t informed the other guards, nor did he seemed to have sent any message to Lox Palace informing Torin that Roclan had so severely broken protocol.
